THE ROAD AHEAD LEADS TO MY POSSIBILITIES
Traveling art exhibit at Plano nonprofit
PLANO, TX – Oct. 1, 2019 – The Museum of Special Art (MOSA) in partnership with My Possibilities (MP) hosted The Road Ahead traveling exhibition, Aug. 29 – Sept. 30. The Road Ahead opened at My Possibilities with an intimate reception on Aug. 29 to highlight the talent of people with disabilities, including its very own Hugely Important People, or HIPsters, to the community.
My Possibilities provides continuing education, vocational and trade training, socialization, and independent living skills to HIPsters. These skills equip HIPsters with the knowledge and confidence needed to achieve the life they desire. My Possibilities’ mission is to courageously and relentlessly pursue the full, untapped possibilities of these Hugely Important People, making every day count.
This year marks the fourth annual showing of The Road Ahead exhibit. The traveling exhibit features a collection of art from 32 talented artists with disabilities all over the country.
For the 2019 show, The Road Ahead collaborated with the following participants: Art Enables, Creative Trails, Imagine That! Kansas City, Suzie Cappa Art Center, Hozhoni Foundation, Inc., North Fourth Art Center, Sophie’s Gallery, Museum of Special Art, and My Possibilities.
HIPster artwork was displayed and available for purchase alongside the traveling art. My Possibilities received 40 percent of sales during the month-long show.
MP provides a creative arts program that encourages HIPsters to express their interests through visual and performing arts. Art classes range from art history and drawing to photography and studio art. HIPster artwork is on display throughout the Fischer Family School of Life Skills at My Possibilities and is available for purchase, online: mypossibilities.org/academics/hipsterartgallery.
