MY POSSIBILITIES RECEIVES $1.5 MILLION GRANT FROM MOODY FOUNDATION
Grant supports the organization’s $25 million capital campaign
PLANO, TX – Dec. 9, 2019 – My Possibilities (MP), a North Texas for-cause organization, is excited to announce a $1.5 million grant from The Moody Foundation to support continued development of the Campus for Higher Learning, a collegiate-style education center for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).
In 2017, MP launched a three-year, $25 million capital campaign to support the organization building a neuro-diverse continued learning, collegiate-style campus. MP broke ground on 20 acres of land in Plano to construct the Campus for Higher Learning. In May of 2018 MP opened the doors to the Fischer Family School of Life Skills, the first of seven buildings on the campus grounds. Staff and HIPsters alike were thrilled to start this new chapter of possibilities. MP currently serves 450 HIPsters weekly within the educational program and an additional 175 HIPsters in the community through supported employment.
To date, with the help of organizations like The Moody Foundation, MP has raised $24.2 million towards the capital campaign. MP plans to break ground on the LaunchAbility Career Services Center in early 2020. The Fischer Family School of Life Skills and the LaunchAbility Career Services Center will function as the center of the campus, which will expand over time to include a communications center, a health-and-wellness center, a retail center, dormitories and a student services center.
To date, The Moody Foundation has awarded more than 4,000 grants to Texas-based nonprofits that exhibit innovative ideas and make long-term improvements in Texas communities.
“It’s wonderful to see the depth of community support we’ve received for the capital campaign,” says Kim Roosevelt, capital campaign manager at My Possibilities. “The Moody Foundation does incredible work for many Texas communities. We’re honored to partner with them to change the lives of more individuals with IDD in North Texas.”
